I am still very happy with Photoshop’s development, and I can say this because it has been four years since it first saw a redesign in Photoshop CS6. Now, version CC is coming out, and that’s exciting, right? I mean that’s why I get a paycheck, not just to review software. Well, here it is for your money (although the Premium Upgrade option is worth it), and my initial impressions are good. CC represents a shift in what works best in PS. With Dr. Janek Nowacki (head of photography at Adobe) in charge, he has stated that this version will be “a big leap” for the program.
I found it strange that Adobe decided to pick the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock festival to announce a jump for this version. It’s a great milestone, but it hardly justifies a product release. That’s not to say that Photoshop does not make a big change. It does, in fact the entire design of the program is new. You do not have to start again, because you can still open a file created with CS6, but you may want to re-examine every feature you’re used to. I asked John Nack, the senior evangelist for Photoshop for some details:
